79. Really churned out some great film soundtracks, he did. I also really dug several tracks off my favorite Aphrodite's Child album, such as:

Aphrodite's Child - The Four Horsemen (1972)

I also walked by his house near the Acropolis when I was in Greece in early 2009. RIP!

The Australian Broadcasting Corp is currently running a Top 50 Original Soundtrack competition

Vangelis' soundtrack for Chariots of Fire, and in particular the track from the running on the beach scene, would have to be a strong contender for a Top 10 spot.

Instantly recognisable.
