RIP Timothy West Aged 90.

This news came as a bit of a shocker.

The star of both stage and screen, he came to my notice as the lead in the hugely hilarious comedy series Brass where he played the social climbing patriarch Bradley Hardacer, father of numerous very odd children.

He was of course married to Prunella Scales, aka Sybil from Fawlty Towers.

I must dig out my Brass DVD boxset and watch it again.

Sorry to hear this—to be honest, when I first saw the title, I thought this was about the pipemaker, Tim West, and thought, “I had no idea he was that old!” I’m not sure I’ve seen enough UK television to be certain I’ve seen this actor.

I don't know much about him. But I watched some of his boating programs with his wife. They were good.
Its nice to see two people from the telly be married for so long. Genuine love.

I really hate that they cancelled Gentleman Jack. It was just getting exciting. I haven't seen most of the other shows he was in, but I hate to hear that he died.

Yes, Gentleman Jack was a great adaptation again with great actors and an interesting (& true) story though much embellished for TV.

I watched some of his boating programs with his wife. They were good.

I caught some of the canal barge episodes, so sad to see his wife deteriorate as quickly as she did.

an invaluable outlook, so many people live and die on inflexible expectations. I am sure some people stood on the deck laughing at the people getting on the Titanic lifeboats, muttering to themselves about how the boat is unsinkable.
