(I'm so embarrassed,....I knew I shouldn't have posted my crappy reviews where he could see them.)
I'm going to print that one out and tack it to the wall.
Thanks Kevin. :) Thanks Greg!

Thanks for the reminder. I'm going to take it to pipe club and maybe do collective reviews.

Nicely done article. Lots of excellent points. The best one being not to review on just one bowl.

Greg's approach is really the 'common sense' style approach to this

matter. It provides a framework on which to organize personal impressions.

I'm all for the "don't review on one bowl" idea. Hell I don't really know the flavour of a tobacco until about 10 bowls into it --- though I am new to pipes, cigarettes which I've been smoking in large variations for years I can telly you in two to 5 fags just how well it will wear on me, and everything there is to taste that I'm every going to in it (moral of the story -- taste buds adapt over time to entire families of flavours and get more refined as well)

Great "how to" Greg. I could have used this before I did my first review.
Yoru, I agree. I've read many "one bowl" reviews and thought it's an injustice to the blend and less than responsiable to the readers. I know there's guys out there who smoke heavy blends, then on a whim try a subtle blend and stuff it into the same pipe. That's like drinking a couple of straight bourbons, then trying a glass of light wine and writing a review on the wine.
If I ever write another review I will use Pease's piece as a guide but I think I will inform the reader what usually gets smoked in the pipe also.
