Hi all,
Just finished restoring my flea market find, a "Doodler." This is my first attempt at restoring a pipe, but I'm pleased with the results. First, a 'before' shot:

And a couple 'after' shots. I stained first with black, then burgundy leather dye. No lacquer, just lots of polishing and a very light coat of carnauba wax:

Any ideas on the age of this pipe?

Nice job. I hope she smokes well for you. I can't belive that old joke of mine reappeared almost a year later.

Thanks guys! Captainsousie, I'm glad to hear that post was a joke. I thought perhaps that while attractive, these pipes were a bit of a dud! I'm really new to pipes, but this one seems to smoke fine so far. Trouble is, it's too pretty to smoke too much, so I need to get busy restoring another or just buy new!

Wow, that translucent effect that your work gave to the wood is one of my favorite looks for wood. Good looking pipe, I hope it smokes well for you.

Thanks all! I picked up another unusual pipe from the fleamarket, I may attempt another restoration job soon. It's a lot of work though!
