Cleaned it up and removed the burned out bottom.

Selected some new stock and secured, trimmed and sanded.

All finished, getting ready for some Walnut and a light from my homemade Zippo pipe lighter.

I replaced the original Zippo hinge with a homemade lanyard attachment.

@wildcat I have a fondness for cobs that stems from watching my grandpa smoke one while we cut timber and made moonshine!

Great story Irish! Your gramps sounds like he was a cool guy! My affection (or affliction!) for the pipe comes from watching the old timers when I was a kid. Particularly Papa Jim, my grandmother's brother in law and our neighbor. As for these older estate cobs, man, there's just somethin' about 'em. Practicality with style, y'know what I mean? Some say they aren't worth reviving, but they come cheap and are easy to rehab and are good smokers! One other cool thing is that most folks pick up that they are old, whereas estate briars don't always give that vibe.
