These are those cheap pipes made in China, and sell on the bay for 99 cents, plus shipping. I have 2 of them. When you get them remove the little clear plastic stinger that fits into the stem. Then they smoke very well. No pipe cleaner, no problem, wash them out with water. Works great for a travel pipe. Leave one in a hotel room, Who cares at 99 cents. TSA wants to confiscate them,OK. I was cleaning the gutters on my roof eaves and sneezed, it flew out of my mouth to the concrete sidewalk below. It bounces like an empty plastic soda bottle. No damage, no harm or scratch, no dents. The ones I have look good to me. No hang over of flavor from other tobacco. No one will accuse you of being a SNOB for your choice of pipes. Don't have to let them rest between smokes, they can't absorb moisture.

I bet they smoke hot. I have a brylon pipe that I keep only because it was my first pipe. I even pull it out and smoke it from time to time to remember my first delving into this wonderfully mysterious hobby.

Hi Rothnh.--- "The Pipe & Hinson" were both resin pipes. The Hinson had a meer lining and was a good smoker too. But not cheap. I think they were from the 70's. I agree about the cobs, but the shipping eats me up on getting cobs here. A bag of 10 for $30 then $30 more for shipping. Ouch!

Can't help it - when I see the words "resin" and "pipe" in the same sentence, I think of an entirely different smoking experience...

Probably fine, but briars, cobs and Meerschaum are time tested to be innocuous, whereas resin, I'm not so sure.

How does it interact with the heat; does it gas off weird monomers (little break-away molecules)? And so forth.

You're getting some residual in your mouth, and you're swallowing that. Probably fine, but do you want to run

the experiment? It's like really cheap coffee makers where you pour hot water through a rubbery plastic frame.

What else ends up in your coffee? One cob will last you years ... and years.
