I have seen the word “flipping” used here several times is this a negative practice ?

No, nothing wrong with buying pipes just to resell. I think some here just crabby because the price of pipes are going up and the resellers seem to be in part driving some of that inflation. If you sell pipes as found a lot of people are drawn to that because they can do their own resto but this will minimize profits for you. If you're going to restore before selling you won't catch a bad rep if you aren't doing hack resto work. Don't overbuff everything, and don't use copper pipe for repairs and you'll be fine.

I've done that with a number of estate pipe finds.
I'd buy a pipe, clean and restore it and if I didn't like the way it smoked, I'd clean it and resell it.

It’s only a negative if you know of some flaw and you don’t disclose it.

I’m all for people buying pipes and flipping them.
