Replacing Stem on Savinelli

I am fairly new to pipe smoking. I recently acquired a Savinelli Gigantes 111EX on the cheap. I think it's either a fake or the stem had been replaced previously since there is no Savinelli mark on the stem. I have contacted Savinelli and they will replace the stem for $100, and I'll have to send the pipe off for 2-5 months. I have two questions 1. Is this genuine or a fake? 2. If it is genuine, is it worth sending it off for a $100 to get a Savinelli replacement or should I look at less expensive options?
