Replacement for Deep Hollow?

Okay, so... barring the fact that there is really no exact replacement for McC Va, if one’s favorite smoke happened to be Deep Hollow where do I head next?

I’m looking to make an order on SP soon and just trying to avoid too many misses.

I enjoy the ribbon cut, sweet, and not too strong but flavorful (to me) smoke of DH, so any suggestions are welcome.

Low Country Santee is a flake, but is on the list as the description seems like the closest...

break it down by constituents, Deep Hollow is a Va/Per/Bur with a lot of topping or casing - more floral than "foody" (caramel or vanilla). The only thing that strikes me as remotely close is Sherlock Holmes from Peterson.

No, nothing comes to mind, really - Deep Hollow was sickly sweet to me and whatever the topping was absolutely overpowered the leaf - that in mind, you ever smoke anything like Ennerdale?

Wow, all I've smoked was really subtle.

Never tried Ennerdale but my experience w DH has been a light and tasty VA w a hint of green apple.

I’ve found it to be very subtle and enjoyable.

Funny, I liked Virginia Woods enough to explore Deep Hollow and Gray Havens - I found both absolutely disgusting. I like McC virginias a ton, but the topping on both of those just hammered me.

I actually gave away a tin of Grey Havens with a pipe sale because I disliked it so much, lol.

I have a couple tins of VA Woods, haven't tried it yet, gonna let it set awhile.

That Deep Hollow is my daily though...

I juts got a tim of Royal Yacht and Roper's Roundels and neither are what I'm looking for VA-wise.

I think I must just have simple tastes, lol.

Deep Hollow is an amazing blend. I don't have very many tins of it either, and I wish I had discovered it earlier in my search for blends. I'll be stretching it out over time. I recently opened a tin, and after a few bowls I jarred that one up. I won't touch it again for some time. My remaining tins will likely collect a lot of dust before being opened.

Anthony, I discovered Deep Hollow by "accident". I received an open tin through a trade or purchase about 3 years ago. About a 1 1/2 ago I came across the tin, and thought okay, I then ordered "a few" tins. It is a wonderful relaxation smoke.

Agreed. I opened my one and only tin in October and kept telling myself I'd get more, but that never happened. I thought the strength was lacking, but the flavor was great.

I managed to get 10 50g tins when the axe fell, and traded a tin of 40th for a 100g tin. Will have to pace myself. Sadly I found my favorite tobacco too late in the game.

I've not tried any of those, but I've heard good things about Autumn Evening and intend to try it soon. Duane, haven't you recommended Autumn Evening to me before?

I really enjoy the smell that lingers on your clothes afterwards w Deep Hollow.

Its not at all offensive, or cigarette like, and smells almost like toasting marshmallows...
I only have a 7 100g tin of Deep Hollow left, so I need to make a move or else I'll be in trouble quick.

I went ahead and ordered those three above (the Autumn Evening just to try anyhow), and will report back.

If anyone else finds something near DH, give a holler.
