I saw not one, but two of these at the St. Louis Pipe Show in Feburary. Both were on the same vendor's table. I'm a very tactile person; I love variety. When I held this in my hand, it's larger than an Author and the "tentacles" created a very odd sensation for me. Love the carving though.

Ian Walker of Northern Briars is known for this shape. I Think it is stunning and cannot imagine how this is accomplished without a machine.

I kind of want it, I really do. Can't really justify the cost, but I still want it. Maybe if it still on their website in a few weeks it will be meant to be.

I like it! It has that noir look about it, a little dark, interesting. I think the darker stained version of the same pipe looks a little better though.

I have had the button hovering just beneath my trigger finger many times. I love the look, the texture, the tactile qualities, but it's just the size and weight that has been wavering. It would end up a hand-held pipe for me, and I already have a full arsenal of those, as I rarely ever hold my pipes while smoking. But, it is beautiful beyond all words.

Have you ever seen some of Yves Backstoner's pipes? He changes his name so much that I am not sure what other names he has gone by as a pipe artist...

But, he has a whole line of nautical looking specimens that are gorgeous.

I am all about interesting and artfully produced pipes, but the first one in the OP reminds me too much of one of those pictures that unfortunately sometimes pop up when I'm reading various news websites that are ads for some horrible images that will be forever burned into your brain if you click the ad. Those things creep me out.
