Brief backstory: I put down the pipe for about 7 years and now it seems like a lot of stuff I used to have no problem finding is either gone or rare as hens teeth.

This week's surprise: Reiner 71 long golden flake. Nobody seems to have it. Well nobody in the US anyway.

Anybody able to give me the scoop? Is it gone? Only imported once a year so good luck getting some (ala Germain)? Or usually available but it just happens to be out everywhere right now, no reason to panic, will be back in stock soon?

I have a oftentimes supply so I haven't looked for it in several years. Nice tobacco, quite unique. A bit on the expensive side but not horrible. I haven't heard it was discontinued, that would be a shame. Guessing it just doesn't ship that often.

Maybe Orlik G Slices would serve you as a decent substitute for Rainers 71 ?
This makes good sense for someone looking for a replacement for the Reiner. I'm coming from the backwards direction to that.

Golden Sliced is already my main VA. Fortunately, it doesn't seem to be as prone to shortages in the US as a lot of other European blends have become so I've been able to keep enough to get me through the year.

The Reiner is just different enough that I feel justified having some around for when I'm a little bit fatigued with the Orlik and want something a little more robust but not *too* stout. My stock of the Reiner is down to the last few flakes. But like the nickname says, they're looong flakes. So I hope they get me through to the next US retailer resupply.

I would just like to reiterate that you could have bought 8 tins of it from Esterval’s and had it shipped to your door for $23.37/tin. Maybe 8 tins is too much for your needs.

The country squire shows it as in stock. $35 for 100 grams
