Out of the tobaccos I have tried, I think I am gravitating toward Virginias. Any recommendations for something really good- especially something that cellars well?

Hamborger Veermaster,Reiner Long Golden Flake...
You can't go wrong with any of those.

I love a lot of the above mentioned Virginias but one that I really enjoy that doesn't get as much press is McClelland #24. The added drama leaf gives it a really interesting sweetness that just blends so well with the flake.

I'm smoking some McClelland #24 from 1979 as we speak. I feel comfortable saying that it ages well.

and I was thinkin my tin from 2007 is a good puff bet that 79 is very sweet

and I think that Drama leaf has a black tea like taste but that might be just me

PS 701 takes to ageing like a duck to water . Rattrays Black Virgina is also one of my favorites ,even if HOW overshadows it .

McCranie's Red Ribbon (or McClellands 5100), Orlin Golden Sliced, Erinmore Flake (after drying out), and Macbaren's Virginia Flake.

In no particular order

Peterson Irish Flake, Stokkebye Luxury Navy Flake, Erinmore Flake - these I have tried and enjoy tremendously. From among the non-flakes, I like Villiger 1888 Late Night and Mc Baren VA #1 ( in small doses )

+1 To all of these. Some included are those I have yet to try and now they are on my list.

I rarely see Astley's #44 on these lists. It's a wonderful dark flake fresh out of the tin, and gets better over time.

Peterson Irish Flake has such a high nicotine content, it will leave you stumbling around, wondering who you are :P On a serious note, do all VA or VAPers taste like Irish Flake?

All of the above mentioned ;-) plus Rattray's Marlin Flake, SG's Bracken, Balkan, St. James, Navy but for the flake...don't rush her/take your time and give them the extra air-time they need otherwise a muted/steam'ed mouth smoke you will get...but given the right amount of time...OH BABY!
@taerin~ Peterson's Irish Flake is one of a kind, haven't had anything like it so...answer to question is other VA/VaPers do not taste like Irish flake

Taerin, try to get your hand on some FVF.
All the good one were already listed. Nothing more to add with the exception maybe of C&D's Sunday Picnic. I really like that one. As a matter of fact, this made me pull out a flake so I can have that with a cup of strong coffee here in about 30 minutes :puffy:
