Howdy all!
Been a while since I've been able to post regularly. Work has gotten quite busy and although my pipe smoking hasn't slowed down, the posting sure has. I wanted to put up a few pics of some recent additions.
I recently went back to Lincoln, NE where I attended UNL over 10 years ago for a friends wedding. I was able to meet up with some college friends, some of whom I hadn't seen in over 10 years! I googled the closest tobacco shop and came up with Ted's Tobacco. Turns out he had the largest selection of estate pipes and tobacco in Lincoln. My local tobacconist doesn't carry estates and it was a welcome surprise. I ended up speaking with Ted, the owner for what seemed like forever. He was more that happy to pull out bags of estate pipes not on display including an impressive collection of Charatan's. It seemed like he was quite happy to talk pipes instead the usual cigar customer. If you ever get the chance stop by his shop.
He was such a nice guy, I felt obliged to buy an estate from where I had so many memories. I looked through many pipes and just couldn't find the right one. After talking for a while and getting to know my taste he said "I think I have the pipe for you." He pulled out this rusticated Paolo Becker canadian that was perfect. Now as is typical in most retail shops, the prices are quite a bit higher than what you would pay online. But I prefer to keep the local guy in business so I was set on spending some money with him. When I saw the price tag of $120 I knew that was the one. The rim has a little damage but nothing major. I couldn't resist.
I also picked up a tin of McClelland Dark Star. The best thing about local shops is the tobacco sits on the shelf for ages and I pounced on this 2011 tin.
The tampers in the pics are recent additions from Rik Ruff. He's out of NE and does some absolutely amazing tampers. One is his Cigar Nub model and the other is a Bamboo shape with Winchester .357 Mag shell. I love them. Check out his stuff, you won't be disappointed.
The last pic is of a recent Mr. Snuff purchase. I had to pick up a pack of Mick McQuaid plug just to see what it was all about. The Toque Whisky & Honey is very nice. My favorites are definitely the Abraxas Dragun and Cafe 11. Very fantastic stuff.

What a memorable trip that must have been. You were able to attend an old friend's marriage, revisit your college town, score a killer Paolo Becker Canadian plus a vintage tin of a McClelland VA.
You did very well indeed.
I've got a couple of those "anniversary" burners. I pick them up and I'm always reminded of where they came from, who gave them to me and why they're so special. They might not be great smokers but they're memorable because of a place in time and they'll always hold a spot in my racks for those reasons alone. (When your friend calls and tells you that they're pregnant with their first child I'll be disappointed if you don't reach for that Becker.)
BTW, I know nothing about snuff but those tampers are fabulous.
Cheers,
Fnord

Wow, I absolutely love that pipe! I has both my favorites, the rustication (not sure what that "type is called, but I mean how it has the large bumps... Wow... I feel like a newb again... Which I may still be actually) it is just beautiful along with the Canadian shape which I love. Add in the dark star and it's a double win. I love that stuff, finished mine off and am very disappointed but I think I will live. Nice job and happy smokes!

Thanks for the kind words everyone. The pipe smoked beautifully last night. I gave it a salt and alcohol treatment overnight, cleaned the cake, and ended up loading the last my open tin of Wessex BCDF. What a great smoke. I really have a thing for canadian's. Love the long shank. This one is a winner.
