Today, I received this gorgeous Thurmann pipe in the mail from fishnbanjo. I know I am not on the forums as much as a lot of you, and I don't have those strong relationships a lot of you have with one another on here because of how little I get on during the school year, but I love how this community has welcomed me with open arms. It just goes to show I don't have to log on everyday to be a part of this community. The fellowship here is amazing, and I have learned pipe smokers will take care of each other whether you can log on everyday or once a month. fishnbanjo thought of me at a time when I wasn't even logging into the forums on a regular basis. You see, the message came during finals week, and boy, was it a tough one (advanced finance gave me a run for it.) I didn't get the message until a few weeks after it was sent, but I was overwhelmed with happiness to see how the pipe community thinks of everyone. New smokers, experienced smokers, student smokers, smokers of all ages, and smokers of both genders. I feel honored that fishnbanjo trusted me to look after this pipe. You have my promise that I will take good care of it! This post was not well written. I was not sure how to convey my thanks and gratitude to this fellow pipe smoker; Someone I have communicated with through forums, but haven't had lengthy conversations with. Thank you, very much. This act of kindness will not be forgotten, nor taken for granted.

Very nice looking pipe, great lines. A little tender loving care and it will look good as new. And I bet it is a great smoker. Way to go fishbanjo!

A beauty! Lucky guy to have a nice pipe like that. Nice straight grain in that wood! The stem will polish up like new and that will be showcase material. I am finding that my eye is drawn to pipes with contrasts.

Superb!!!
Well done Smokey. Hope all goes well with the exams etc.
That is a beautiful pipe. Thurmann is on my all time greats list (I have a few), and I know you will not be disappointed with it - his pipes are amazing smokers (also, look amazing, and feel great in the hand).
F'n'B played a blinder.
Bravo - to both of ya.

"I was not sure how to convey my thanks and gratitude to this fellow pipe smoker..."
For not being sure of how to, I believe that you did a fine job. Congratulations on the acquisition of a beautiful pipe, and a good friend in fishnbanjo. He's 4.0 in my book!

 Well as I told Smokeytay33 the bowl was too big for my liking. The pipe arrived sanitized and ready to smoke, the oxidation on the stem is nothing that ever bothers me as it's the patina of years gone by for me. I know others can give Smokeytay33 some advice on the best way to remove it but it is ready to smoke should they decide to try it out, enjoy.

smokeytay33:
Here's a bit of advice which I received from sablebrush52 concerning the removal of oxidation from Vulcanite stems: use micro-mesh pads (available from most hobby and woodworking shops). When used as you would wet-sandpaper they do an outstanding and almost effortless job of cleaning and polishing, and the result will be a shiny, jet-black stem. Just be certain to exercise care around the logo or other stamped nomenclature so that you don't polish them off. Others here on the Forums can advise you as to the best grit selection to use.
I hope that you find this information to be helpful.

Thank you for the advice on oxidation removal! Fishnbanjo told me it would have oxidation on arrival. I just couldn't wait to thank him and show everyone so I posted pics quickly. I'll have to go get some micro mesh pads and give it a whirl. She fits nicely in my hand and I love the big bowl! So again, thank you!
