This has been a difficult tobacco for me, granted I am only one bowl in on my second tin (had the same issue with the last half of the tin before). I really don't taste much at all. I get a little of the Kentucky and Perique upon first light but almost like an aromatic, it is gone within two minutes and the rest of the bowl is either harsh or tastes like nothing but hot air. I am smoking very slow in a clean pipe with roughly one hour on dry time. I really want to like this blend but just cant seem to get a hang of it.

I smoked it years ago. It's a strong tobacco more because of the Kentucky than the Perique. I decided it wasn't for me because I'm not a Kentucky smoker. It burns my mouth and is high in nicotine. Some love it though. After that I moved to Virginia flakes like Dunhill/Peterson Flake and Solani 633 which are better for my palette. Cheers.

So…I actually had a similar problem with Scottish Cake and blends with similar components (Brown Clunee and Orlik Golden Sliced spring to mind). So I jarred them up and left them for a year. Much improved.

Put it in a jar that is not perfectly air tight (I like Douwe Egberts coffee jars) and just let it sit and breathe but not dry out. Occasionally give it a shake.

It sounds simple, but tobacco really likes air - just think of cigars. Ammonia and other chemicals can build up in the tobacco causing a bitter taste, and letting them simply dissipate can work wonders.
