I have 3 blasted Rad Zulus covering pretty much (I think) all of the stain colors Rad does. I had long promised myself that if I see a Rad smooth zulu I will jump on it to complete my Rad zulu collection. So when this one came along, I had to jump on it. It is exactly what I wanted - a larger group 5 zulu.

peck, that is simply outstanding, what a great looking Zulu. Your taste in pipes I have to admit is almost as good as mine. lololol. Seriously though, you have been buying some of the best looking pipes out there, really well done my friend. I am sure it is going to be a great smoker for you. Congrats buddy.

Congratulations on your new pipe. I also have a Rad smooth Zulu. I think the shape is cool. I hope you enjoy your pipe for many years to come.

Roth, I like Rad Davis smooth pipes and have 2 of them. I prefer smooth pipes over blasted ones but I have both in my collection. It just takes longer to save for an $800 range pipe as compared to a $400 range pipe. Rad makes beautiful pipes in both classes but I can understand how the lower priced ones would sell faster and in larger quantities.

That pipe is scrumptioulishly gorgeous! I have a blasted Rad on order from him; the only reason I didn't go for the smooth is the $.
As many have said 'you can't smoke grain', but your pipe is really amazing.
I just know that pipe will smoke extremely well.

Roth,
I may be completely off base, but my perception is that sandblasts are often preferred over smooth pipes in the marketplace today, even holding price constant. I am not sure why. It would be interesting if Mike at briarblues or some other similar vendor had any thoughts as to whether such a perception has any factual validity.
