Information Request

Calabash.jpg

This wonderful gourd calabash was gifted to me and Im looking for information.

The "Anchor" denotes Birmingham in the UK.

The "Lion" is the silver content verification. The Silver content lion would shed some light as they changed some. This page HERE has some less than desirable images.

The "K" should be a real clue as to the date I believe, and thus the next image.
I cant find anything on the "RL&S" stamping.
Information received from the previous owner was:

The silver hall marked band says 1908 but as far as I can tell the pipe is probably a year or two earlier. I was sold by a company in Canada but probably made in the UK and exported to be 'own label' and hence the address in the case. It probably had an amber stem which got replaced in the 60s or 70s

I couldn't find anything on RL&S. For the Birmingham assay mark, the anchor, you need to look at the Birmingham date codes. The "k" is for 1909. Very cool looking pipe!

I could find RL& Co, RL & Co into two circles, R.Landstone & Co London 1904 hallmark. It's pure speculation, but perhaps R.Landstone & Co could have become R.Landstone and Sons by 1909?
