I'm a fan. I just learned today that he was a lover of the bicycle and shunned the automobile. Pretty amazing since he spent most of his life in Southern CA. Obviously he will live on forever through his great body of work.

It is really sad... I loved The Martian Chronicles, and Fahrenheit 451.

Another loss the wife brought to my attention today....
The real Kissing Bandit.... Cpl. Peter Newkirk (Hogan's Heros); a regular on Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In; and the ladies favorite on Match Game.... that's right Colin Lionel Emm... AKA Richard Dawson Died: 6/2/2012 RIP.

I saw the announcement on Yahoo today. Ray Bradbury has been an influence and inspiration for so many young writers and "thinkers". I usually mention him in my class lectures every semester. Seems like fewer and fewer students know his contributions.

I do not know thee or thine works, but thy loved ones loss is great. And I take a moment to pay respect, reflect and so by and by we shall meet one and all.

Nicely phrased, Locopony.
Bradbury has been a long time favorite but a junior high reading of several of his short stories gave me the heebie-jeebies for months. Forty years later I can now realize he was a master of that genre and can put him a close second to F. Scott Fitzgerald.
Weird thing is, I'm not an SF fan, but his writing sure threw a lasso around a whole bunch of us.

The man was one of the original literary giants that I fell in love with and is a huge influence on me as a writer. This is a sad day indeed. My next pipe will be dedicated to Mr. Bradbury.
