I recently ordered a sampler pack of Hearth & Home tobacco from P&C. 4 of the 6 are just like the tobacco I'm used to, though they're drier (which is great, I don't have to dry it myself now!)
But one (Virgina Spice) had a small clump of VERY wet tobacco. I'm guessing I should either just take out the clump of wet tobacco and let it dry or to just mix it all together. I wonder if it was shipped that way on purpose or if the heat or humidity just affected it somehow... Anyway, it smells great either way!
The last tobacco is completely different. I think it's flake tobacco. Here's a quick picture of it. If it is flake tobacco, I already have a nice guide pulled up from this site, I just want to make sure before I smoke it.
And I want to thank everyone that recommended I get a Missouri Meerschaum cob! I'm really liking it so far. I got the Diplomat and a grab bag. The diplomat is nice, because the bowl is fairly big but not huge like my Ascorti. Then again I got a MacArthur in my grab bag...that is a big pipe.

It looks to me like a broken flake. It's a little hard to tell how zoomed in you are, but that's my best guess.
Could you let us know which blend it is? Some of us may have had it before and could answer for sure, and give you specifics on what works best with it.
If it is a broken flake, you can probably just pack it as is (sort of resembling the Fold'n'stuff of a full flake), or you can further rub it out so it resembles a ribbon cut.
The very wet clump in the VS has me stumped. Maybe a pic of that as well would help, but I'm guessing whatever the reasoning for it arriving that way, it was not entirely intentional...

Sorry guys, I could have sworn I mentioned the blend! It's heath & home 10 to Midnight. I did some googling (don't know why I didn't before) and found a review that calls it a crumble cake cut. I'm going to read that, might answer my question for me!
And the VS looks and smells fine other than the wet bit. I mean, that smells and looks fine too, other than the wetness.
