I have an issue that I haven't been able to figure out. If I hit the reply to someone's posts and then decide not to reply, I can't figure out how to back out of it and delete the reply before sending it. Any suggestions?

As far as I know, once you hit that reply button and the posting goes up, there's no way to get rid of it, short of asking a mod to delete it for you. There's a 10 minute window to edit your post, though, which is admittedly useful for indecisive second-guessers such as myself... 😁

I do this all the time. You just select everything in the text box. If on a phone, touch screen > hit "select all" then delete. If on a PC, ctrl + A, then delete.
But, if you switch pages and come back, it will be back in your text box... unless you hit the space key and few times. It's weird, I know.

He means before he hits the "Post Reply" I think.

I think I know what you are talking about. Sometimes if I change my mind about replying, and back out of the thread, I can go back into it weeks later, and my reply is still hanging out ready to send.

You have to just delete everything you thought about sending, instead of hitting reply.

Or the little "back" arrow in the RFT text box a couple times will back you out of it. I like that sometimes it will remember what you started and always be in the text box till you get rid of it. lol

Just put the cursor at the end and hold the backspace key down until it all disappears. It takes a minute but its the the way I have been doing it. Sometimes its best not to reply.
Ok, when you erase that post, click to leave page, and click to return to it... is that message still erased or is back again? Because for me, it always pops back up, unless I hit the space bars a few times before leaving. This is how I sometimes post things with replies that I didn't mean to be there, thus... I have to edit many of my responses. Maybe it is just my iPhone's Safari and my PC's Chrome that does this.

No, its erased permanently. I have experienced what you are saying but only once or twice and thought it was some defect in the forum rather than on my end. I have an old laptop so I don't know how those fancy smart things work that you youngins' have ! ;) I could highlight and delete as Warren suggests ... I'll have to try that one too. Maybe I'll get a newer laptop soon but I tend to keep things until they disintegrate or explode. :ROFLMAO:
