Treasure Pipes has relisted the Purdy that I sent back. It's a beautiful pipe. If you are bidding, make sure to ask how it was repaired. I returned it because the stem was swimming in its mortise and it needed to be repaired. For the money that I had paid I felt that the pipe should be in working order.
Treasure Pipes is a reputable seller. As I've said, I've bought from him in the past and I would not hesitate to do further business with him. That said, it doesn't hurt to ask questions.

I've seen Treasure pipes listings many times, and I am very surprised at such an obvious flaw not mentioned.
Did you talk to them?

I'm reasonably certain that Rodrigo sent the pipe out to be repaired before relisting it. I'm also reasonably certain that he was unaware of the problem to begin with and was the unwitting victim of whoever sold it to him. When I received the pipe I disassembled it to clean it and discovered that the tenon had been neatly wrapped with a thickness of scotch magic tape that made it a snug fit, but not a proper repair. The tape began to come off the first time that I twisted off the stem.
From previous purchases I've made from him, I don't think that Rodrigo (Treasure Pipes) actually closely examines the pipes that he buys beyond an exterior exam, and none of those that I've purchased show any signs of having been cleaned. Mike (Briar Blues) says that Walker cleans Rodrigo's pipes, but I've not seen any evidence of that with my purchases. Other than the Purdy, all of my purchases from Rodrigo have been exceptional and all have needed cleaning. Once I contacted him about the issue with the tenon he totally did right by me, no questions asked.
But as I am aware that a problem did exist and that the pipe is now back up for sale, I wanted to make the other members aware of the pipe's history so that they can ask about the type of repair, should they be interested in bidding on it. It is a beautiful pipe with truly gorgeous grain.
