I've been looking at meerschaum pipes recently, and last night while laying in bed I put down a bid for something like $41, not expecting to win. Well here is what I won.
Ebay Pipe
As this is only my second non-cob pipe, and due to the price I've paid I'm assuming it's likely pressed meerschaum, but..
Has anyone here purchased a similar pipe? If so, how did it smoke?

I have purchased several of the smaller meerchaums both on ebay and direct from Turkey. There was nothing pressed about them, all carved from block. Maybe not #6 quality block but none the less, they are browning very nicely and smoke clean. I like the smaller meers for travel as I can get away with just one or two pipes that don't have to rest and dry.

It's hard for me to tell, is this meer rather small? From the Images it looked kind of normal size. But either way i wouldn't mind as I don't often have time for a long smoke. Do you normally just wipe out the bowl and it's ready for another smoke?

After I smoke a meer, I wipe the bowl with a paper towel. You don't want any "cake" building up. I also find that if you don't run a pipe cleaner through them until you are ready for another smoke, they will color quicker. Especially, if you smoke aromatics in them. I smoke aros in my meers and non-aros in my briars. Real block meerschaum is very light in weight. So, if you pipe is very light, solid chances of it being carved from a block.

I have 3 meerschaum pipes. I have had one for over a years now and enjoy it very much and is in my regular rotation. Hard to tell the exact size from the picture but it looks to be on the small size due to the measurements indicated. but that should still be ok.

Caring for a meer is not much different than briar. one rule is little or no cake build up. I have a very light bit of build up and I occasionally use the scraping tool on my pipe tool to clean any carbon off. Gently of course, not digging into the meer.

I also take a dry paper towel and ream the bowl after every smoke.
