What's everyone's thoughts on the proposed tobacco ban in the UK?

Turns out starting in 2027 anyone who was born after 1st Jan 2009 is completely banned from purchasing tobacco products. Then every year they will increase the year so eventually the UK will be tobacco free.

I see this as an infringement on our human rights. See more here.

Spain - Europe
That is the goal throughout Europe. Here in Spain, tobacco taxes alone are enough to make people think twice about continuing to smoke. They will continue with cow's milk, wine, whiskey, churches, and in general they will destroy European culture, and we will end up being forced to pray facing Mecca and go to work on donkeys, carrying RPG grenade launchers.

Yeah, more bullshit from the government. The PM announced yesterday that they're going to be introducing a compulsory digital ID card, so gradually phasing out tobacco usage is par for the course with these wankers.

Not sure access to tobacco is a human rights issue. Anyway, I'm sure you're born after the allotted date, so nothing to worry about.
Maybe not a human rights issue per se but certainly a personsal choice issue for adults. Still the goverments have no problem using the tax revenue. In Germany they are trying to pass a law making it illegal to smoke in your car when minors are present. The police union admits that they can not enforce it since they are extremley shorthanded to enforce the laws already on the books. By the way on our USA Trip you could smell pot everywhere but tobacco is bad for you

Sounds like a boom in tobacco smuggling is about to be born. 😇

I am fully convinced that tobacco as a plant and cured product, and by this I mean without habitual inhaling, without reclaim in cigarettes, radioactive fertilizers, is as harmful as drinking beer or coffee. I also believe that the world governments see it convenient for them to have people hooked on substances other than nicotine. Its just weird how THC was treated as a boogieman growing up and now its A OK.

I'll be chewing jack knife plug in defiance. You can take my tobacco from my cold cracked pipe.

Everyone basically already has digital ID whether it’s Social Security card or drivers license or anything they can scan that has your information.

Actually getting rid of actual currency is the big problem I would have as soon as all money is digital they control all of your money. There’s the big scary part.

go to work on donkeys
Ah, so that's what they mean when the say "Get your ass to work!"

I think everything should be legalized so we can make good music and dance together again.
Unfortunately, bad music and quadriplegia will also be legal, so slight complication there. But we can cross that bridge when we come to it, I suppose.

Any form of tyranny is hardly surprising in a country that jails people for their dissenting tweets.
Just imagine everyone at the lunch table talking about why they're in jail, and then they get to you: "Oh, I put out dissenting tweets."

And then, "Be careful not to gang-rape me, or I'll compose a REALLY scathing one about that, one that you'll never live down!"

Anything that doesn't hurt another is a human right. Not just in the US, but everywhere.
Until the many show the few that they have no power, we will all be serfs.
The thousands in power only have that power until the millions take that power away.
If law enforcement stops enforcing, those in power are cooked.

Comparing cannabis to tobacco is absurd.
Please be serious.

Consuming tobacco is a luxury, not a basic need therefore curbing its use is not a human rights abuse. Again, totally absurd.

UK is setting itself up for a massive tobacco black market. Perhaps private prisons are in your country’s future.
