Hey all, I’ve read many reviews on the Prince. These reviews range in taste descriptions from bourbon and cocoa to liquorice.

Does it have a liquorice / anise flavour? Was looking to buy some, but that’s not a flavour I enjoy.

I don't know about the new stuff but the old version didn't taste of anise at all. What I think people are referring to is licorice root which gives a certain pronounced sweetness depending on dosage. Licorice root along with cocoa are standard casings for these traditional American burley blends in which Prince Albert had a lighter application compared to others. I found it also had a slight earthy character which I didn't like. I think the bourbon reference may be confusion with Carter Hall.

To me it tastes mostly of burley with slight cocoa tones (more-so in the tin note than the actual smoke). I've never picked up hints of licorice or anise.

Lol. Clear as mud! YMMV for sure!

Guess I’ll just have to try it. Was just apprehensive about dropping over a $100 for a tub that I won’t smoke. Ah well.
