I’m trying another Match tobacco again today. PA Match, is a nice ribbon cut which loads nicely in my Stanwell Trio 11filtered pipe I picked up in Germany. Besides really liking the pipe, I really like the tobacco! No goop, and smokes to an ash at the bottom of the bowl. One relight. Definite coco taste and a good hint of Virginia, but the Burley is dominant. I would say the Match is spot on, sans the chemical taste if the original. I really enjoyed the flavor. It actually tasted better with the 9mm filter, than in my unfiltered pipes.

why would you need a match of a currently produced tobacco? just to buy it in bulk?
PA comes in a tub already... ?

I bought (and buy) the Match to Dunhill 965 because the current STG versions (Dunhill or Peterson) are not as close of a match to the Dunhill or Murray versions of my younger days. In other words, the Match is preferable to the current named product. i think this is true of the Elizabethan Match, too. I can understand why a match sans ”chemicals” might be desired, as well.

I bought a tub of Prince Andrew(P&C knock off) quite a while ago. Not even close to good ole PA in my opinion...

I think the Match PA the OP tried is Sutliff, though. I like Prince Albert! I didn't notice a chemical taste from my pouch. Just a nice, lightly flavored burley blend. I overlooked these blends when I first started piping, but there's really something wholesome and satisfying about that combination of burley with a bit of casing/topping. Since I bought a couple ounces of John Patton's Stormfront, I think I've been converted, and that's my current OTC-style favorite.
