Pressing Some Haunted Bookshop

Maybe it’s the burley, but I just can’t board the vaunted Haunted Bookshop bandwagon. After staring at several tins for some time, I finally got out the old spaghetti press and made a few 2oz, five-day pressed cakes to try and make it more interesting. We shall see…

I'm also not really a fan of HB (and even less of Pegasus), but I very much like OJK though. I know HB is such a darling favorite for so many, but I can't get into it either.

Hopefully your experiment will work out for you.

I am not a fan of HB and seriously doubt that compression would help.

I also can't get into HB or Pegasus. Pressing it won't help. A buddy spotted me a couple bowls of the HB Cake and I found it no different.

Same here I can smoke it but I really don’t care for it.

I’m no master blender but have been smoking a pipe for over 30 years. I think I’ll crumble it and second press it with about 10% black cavendish to smooth it out.

I do not enjoy HB at all. The cake however is much better but I can’t tell you why.

I can't get past the rough notes in HB, maybe I'm just getting soft in old age

Good luck and let us know how it turns out! I bought one tin of HB and after trying it various times over the course of 4 years, I threw the rest into the bon fire. It is not for me. Pegasus, on the other hand, is one of the few C&D blends I like and have cellared several pounds.

I mixed some Sutliff Red VA and Stoved VA 50/50 and noticed that pressing it appeared to make it slightly richer and deeper in flavor.
