This is a good read. It's too bad that legislators are so myopic to not see the potential results of their knee jerk tax-raising on tobacco.....

McCalla has nailed it in the opening statements - our oppressive taxes in Canada have driven the majority of my "premium" tobacco (read: pipe-tobacco) purchases south of the border...sure, I don't get the excitement of sampling a new tobacco with the B&M cronies, but when that pleasure costs more than triple the tin price over the net, I'll leave it, thanks...or, better yet, invest that money into gas, allowing me to head to B&M's in the U.S., providing Washington State with my hard earned dollars.

hilo is spot on. Some nitwit will then budget the imaginary tax revenues in the next year's budget and when it falls short there will be a huge "Wha happened?" in the chambers. So predictible.
