Found a really cool ebay listing for a vintage porcelain estate pipe, I think the pipe is really cool and am thinking about buying it for one of my female friends. Do y'all know much about porcelain pipes? I've never heard of one so was wondering what you all thought!

They get even hotter to hold than clays. They do however deliver a pretty decent smoke in most cases.

yeah that was my original thought, that it would get too hot. For a little pipe though it will probably be all right. Thanx for the wise words good sir!

Those are really hard to come by these days, but I think it's because they fell into

disfavor during the last few decades. When they were popular (late 60's), I think they

sold new for only $7.00 - $10.00
Unless you're a collector and really need that pipe, I'd say your money would

be better spent elsewhere. They do smoke hot, and they do get hot, requiring that you

hold it with a pencil grip. In doing so, your chances of tipping the thing over increase

and the gleed is likely to burn you.

YOWZA ! $90 for that pipe? They must know something about it that I don't.

I'd go $25 if I wanted it really bad.

Otherwise, I'd wait long enough to win one like it for $10.

Being unmarked, there is no way for me to know the quality of the thing.

I used to have an affection for ceramics and clays, and had quite a few at one point.

Half of them really were not made to be smoked. Really nice looking, but smoke it once and the finish cracks, the ceramic turns brown and looks awful.

If you want a ceramic pipe that is made for use, these are the ones to buy;

yeah i checked back an hour later and it was up to forty three! out of my gift range for sure! it was 26 when i found it! haha so much for that gig, maybe i'll find one at some point. The pipe itself looked really elegant and as i throw a lot of tea parties, it would be nice for my friend to smoke during them. OH WELL. i need the money more than the pipe. :puffy:
