It takes a pretty special aromatic to make it into my regular rotation and VMC is such a blend. The pouch note of this is a very full maple smell, and the appearance is appealing with light and dark brown flecks mixed in with the black cavendish tobaccos. Firing up a bowl, you first notice how much the tobacco tastes like the aroma in the pouch, something that doesn't happen a lot in aromatics. The only difference is that the sweetness of the smoke is less than that of the pouch note, something that suits me just fine. I don't care for overly cased tobaccos and this one isn't. The maple taste remains fairly constant over 2/3 of the bowl, then starts to fade away as the smoke ends. It generally leaves a bit of dottle in the bottom of my pipe, as do most aromatics. You will make a lot of friends with this one, as the room aroma is VERY pleasant. I find myself smoking this one every other day or so, which for me is unusual for an aromatic. Four stars for Vermont Maple Cavendish.

Never heard of it. And I can't even find it on LTR.

Carole has a wide variety of blends. Some are blended according to the old Wilke recipes and some are her own. Very definitely worth checking out.

Great! ANOTHER blend to add to my TAD list. Just when I thought I could finally start making the list smaller... Thanks for the link. My wallet doesn't thank you though.

This would make a great blend to enjoy while sipping on some Cabin Fever Whisky which is also maple flavored and not overly sweet. :)

I am a big fan of the Wilke Blends and I love the Vermont Cavendish. However, I am not a big fan of Carole's. I can ony order from her once a year and via email only (my choice). She has pissed me off so many times with her attitude and obtuse behavior - that I can't talk to her over the phone.
Case in point:
Early in the Fall - I ordered #400 from her - which is latakia based blend. I ordered 4 ounces - and got something that was labeled #400 - but is a shadow of it's former self (tasted like Wilke blend High Hat). Full - but nothing like the Latakia Bomb I had gotten before - and this was my 3rd order of this amazing blend. Anyhoo, I called an emailed and finally she sent me (with attitude) a replacement - of 2 ounces!!! Now although I am not a whiz at math - never have been - 2 ounces certainly does not equal 4 ounces. Plus it was the same blend as before - not the #400 I have had in the past from her. She maintains it's the same blend - WELL...IT AINT! So much for the replacement.
I only wish someone else had bought the rights and recipes to the Wilke blends as they are very fine indeed. In regards to Vermont Cavendish - try Canadian Maple by House of Calabash made by Steve Books who is not only a master blender - but a nicer guy to do business with too.
