This question raises another issue, at least to me... Over time, Pipes that I was convinced didn't smoke well got a lot of rack time. As my taste profile changed I would use them to try out new-to-me blends, rather than chance ghosting a Pipe I liked with a blend that didn't work out for me. After awhile, I learned that these Pipes I thought were cursed were not bad smokers... I had to find the blend(s) that made them sing and smoke them at a pace they felt good about. Some Pipes are really finicky. In the end, each Pipe will show you what works for that individual. As for gurgle, the only Pipe that I've never had a gurgle from is a Cob. If I get a gurgle in one of these Meerschaums, I just blow it back into the bowl and the Pipe turns it into patina.
