Hi all

i found smoking non-filtered are more enjoyable and flavorful, so Beside of reducing nicotine content and tobacco flavor what is the impact as i don't inhale the smoke from medical overview?

Have nice day

Stem stays a little cleaner, as for health benefit not sure, I know they get rancid quick and added expense.

I let my packed tobacco filter the smoke. :puffy:

I find that filters sometimes help curb bite and smooth out a rough tobacco. They also, I think, improve most aromatics and OTC burleys. Just my opinion, though.

It will catch some of the tars and stop hot embers coming through. I rarely use them though. As long as you are not inhaling there is not a whole lot of point to them. I only smoke MM Cobs and they are just fine without the filter.

I only have one pipe that takes filters. It is a Dr. G and I have tried with and with out. For aro's that smoke wet, it is great. It absorbs the moisture. Being able to toss the soggy mess when cleaning is kind of handy. The bowl is large and it takes a few relights to get threw it so hey it works out OK. I call that pipe the all day sucker since I can load it and smoke and come back again and again till it is done. Works great for a fishing trip where I do not want to cary along a pouch.

The only filters I've ever had any use for were the Savinelli balsa filters and these days I rarely use those, preferring to use the insert that comes with each pipe. The balsa does absorb the moisture of wet aromatics.

Yes smokey, the filters I have for the Dr. G pipe are paper. They absorb a lot of moisture.

I'm sure there's some benefit to a pipe filter, but the last cob I bought I used the filter to flick "field goals" through a makeshift upright comprised of seasons one and two of "House." They aren't nearly as nifty as the little triangular footballs you can make with a sheet of notepad paper.
