There was a discussion a few weeks ago about testing limits in pipe making. It was a reference to experiments that might not be salable, but are important for a maker to learn.

I thought that I would put up a couple of mine. The lumber jack is sold, after having had it for some years, but the horn is still in my possession.

This pipe is made of Lao Boxwood. The stem was two inches of the ten inch length. This is the largest stem that can be turned on a sixteen inch lathe.

I personally really like this pipe, though people tell me it can't be sold. It has flame grain curling up on both side of the bowl. It has a briar stem and a pretty deep bowl.

Sorry that the images and text are miss-matched. I had some difficulties getting them to appear at all.

That yellow "churchwarden" looking one is sweet. Who ever says it can't be sold is crazy. If I wasn't so broke I would make you an offer.

I agree that there are a lot of nay-sayers, but some experiments are hard to sell. I have another couple that I will put up later.

Like I said in the original message, the yellow, billiard-looking one (I thought it was called a lumber jack.) was eventually sold.

This is another one of those experiments that won't sell. I think that the problem is that I mixed clientel. Most church warden buyers pick cheaper pipes, and someone who wants a straight grain with water buffalo and African Blackwood shank extensions don't go for chuch wardens.

very cool looking pipes and as far as I can tell they dont make an unsellable pipe. Some just may take longer to find its owner. Shoot the chineese are able to sell plastic pipes with a metal bowl. If these are your ceations, you get a 2 thumbs up from me. After I get my next pound in the cellar I would love the chance to own something turned by your hand.
