Pass the aspirin and the earplugs.
Hopefully, the tobacco store lobby can reach their local reps and gain an exemption.
If not, Utah's pipe smokers will be left with few choices and the legislative fallout will hang like an ominous cloud over other states.
It appears the most serious threats to pipe smokers are emerging at the state level.

I've never been to Utah but based on what I've heard it seems like they are no stranger to heavy handed regulations and irrational bans. This trend against "flavoured" tobacco is right up there with the horrendous proposed tax increase as the greatest threats to the survival of our hobby. It's such an incredible shame to see motions like this gain acceptance with the rapidity of the public smoking bans; in my opinion, flavoured pipe tobacco has a very old tradition behind it and causes no more harm than unflavoured smoke - certainly it does not attract children to the briar.
I REALLY need to get to work on building my cellar. I feel as if I may not have the luxury of slowly gaining a lifetime's supply of tobacco.
Humorous picture aside, I have to say it's irksome watching all this happen in the name of making tobacco less appealing to children. Maybe I give them too much credit, but I think these politicians see children as happy-go-lucky zombies with absolutely no free will. I guarantee you, if you find any children smoking any form of tobacco at the moment, they all know it can (will) kill you. Reducing "flavored" tobacco products will NOT help at all. But of course, this isn't actually about the children...
The antismoking nazis are simply using "the children" as an excuse for their draconian agenda.... :twisted:

I keep saying it, keep track of the idiots that pass these laws and VOTE them out. Tht is the only thing they understand!
The saddest part of this all is that any kid that grabs a pipe, and a pouch, crams it full like its "something else", and inhales deeply will probably never smoke again (and now the next dozen comments will tell me thats exactly how they got started!).
Really though, this is just silly. People seem to forget that alot of kids just plain rebel against...well, any authority figures...and telling them that they can't do (insert here) is just going to drive them to whatever *it* is.
