One of my favorite pipes only says Italy on it. As long as it smokes well, be happy with your score!

Welcome Jason, it's my opinion that most pipes marked "Italy" or " Made In Italy" are Savenelli 2nds, or 3rds, meant to be sold as basket pipes. I have a natural, straight, lucite stemmed Dublin which is marked as such, but the styling is clearly Savenelli. All this being said, they usually don't cost more than about $35. I think I paid about $25 for mine, and I feel it was well worth that! $80 does sound a little pricey for an unbranded pipe, but it's hard to say without seeing it. The main thing is being happy with your purchase. If you feel you got a good deal, then you did! A good deal is what you perceive to be good, not what somebody else does! Good luck to you and feel free to ask anything you want!

I don't recognize that pipe as a Savenelli second, though it is possible. I was given a Iwan Ries Exclusives pipe

for Christmas that only said "Italy" on it. Unlike other IR pipes, it did not have the Iwan Ries stamp. Most of

their pipes are made in the USA by Benton, in Texas I think. I also don't recognize this shape, a extra large

full bent billiard, as a Sav shape, but who knows. Sav may have a separate shop or production line for these

house pipes.

I have a pipe that simply says made in london, that's a nice pipe you have, it could very well be some high end second. Who cares about the brand really? It has nice grain, a nice stem, what more could you ask for?

I am presently smoking a extra large smooth bent billiard that I bought as an Iwan Ries Exclusive but that does not

have the Iwan Ries stamp, but only says "Italy" on the stem. Hmmm. Most of their house pipes are made by Benton,

in the USA. I think this may be a "house pipe" Savenelli, and someone else speculated as much, but I really don't

know. It smokes well and is one of two really big bowls I have, when I want that. It has a slightly different feel than

my actual Savenellis, but I can't say just why, since it is bigger than any of those.
