One of my old friends from high school has a pipe that needs a stem. I don't think he is an actual smoker or collector, but has this one pipe that he wants to replace the stem on.
Any suggestions on who he should send it to for a replacement stem?
Estimated costs?

Norwood's in Tennessee. fast and expert service. They have repaired many pipes for me and they're great. About $22 for a new stem and they clean the pipe. Excellent people.

+1 on Norwood's. I had Ken make a new stem for an estate Dunhill billiard whose vulcanite stem resisted all attempts at removing the horrible tasting green oxidation. I opted for an acrylic (my preference, they could do vulcanite if I wanted), and had them do it in a tapered instead of the original saddle (again my preference). Also had them put on an authetic-looking white dot. Cost me under $40 (the dot was $10), took less than a week door-to-door. The fit is superb. Highly recommend them!
