In Fred Brown's new article for April he reminisces on springtime pipe memories with visions of trout fishing, pipe smoking college professors, and weeding out some of the old worn out pipes to make room for the new. Of course, we have his monthly feature of famous pipe smokers of the past.

Check out the latest installment here.

Thanks for sharing. Fred writes,
I admired my pipe-puffing erudite English Lit professors, the fuzzy history profs, and pomp and circumstance philosopher profs, one of whom entered the classroom, smoking a pipe and reciting “ Sic Parvis Magna,” or another of his favorite Latin phrases.
I think it means,
"So Small, So Great".

Philosophers and other deep thinkers smoking pipes in drawing rooms are one of my main, most basic images that I connect with pipe smoking.

Maybe it goes back to Professor Plum in the game Clue when I was a kid. It some versions of the game he has a pipe, and pipe tobacco can have a natural plum smell. Peterson's University Flake even has plum flavoring.
