Pipe Smoking Villain in "The Harder They Come" (1972), Jamaica

I was just enjoying Jimmy Cliff's movie "The Harder They Come" about a talented reggae artist that turns to crime to make ends meet. In this scene I noticed the evil record company boss guy is smoking a pipe, quite a nice one at that. I just saw it and thought you guys may be interested.

For some reason I found myself wondering what he was smoking. I don't know what tobacco they smoked in 70s Jamaica, whether they had American or British or their own stuff. For some reason I just picture him with a Captain Black aromatic; that seems like something a bad guy would smoke.

It's always nice to see a fellow piper on film or written about in a story. I don't own a sitter so just seeing one awakens the PAD.

Nice! I just noticed today that Rabbit has a Meerschaum Calabash in the old VHS of Winnie the Pooh I'm watching with the kids.
As for what this guy is smoking, it can't be that good judging by his scowl.

@dottiewarden It's a nice sitter, isn't it? It seems to fit his character really well, I wonder if it was a part of his costume or just something the actor smoked already.
@mikethompson That's really interesting, I wonder if they based it on a real example someone in production had?

Good catch! Scenes like these always make me smile. My daughter was watching Jumanji last night, there's one pipe smoking shot in that movie as well.
