The only two shows I watch on a regular basis are "Two and a Half Men" and "Mad Men".
The new episode that aired Monday, October 4, which I just watched recorded last night, has the co-star, Jon Cryer smoking a pipe. He plays, Alan, the brother of Charlie.
The pipe smoking got a decent amount of air time too. They talked about him smoking the pipe, and he did impressions of Bing Crosby.
Anytime pipe smoking gets a plug like that is a very good thing.

I watched that also me and the wife love that show. I loved the Bing bit. Although at the end the pipe brought pain to Charlie.

Unfortunately, Alan produces little smoke. But it seems to me the message was pipe smoking is dangerous since it (spoiler alert!) leads to a fire.

Yeah, it was a typical silly ending for the episode, and it was stupid as far as real life. I doubt that a pipe ever caused a fire anywhere in the history of the world.
I already had email communication with Jon's publicist to see about an interview, but she told me he doesn't smoke a pipe, so we nixed it. Bummer. That would have been awesome.

The only fire started by a pipe I know of is people burning holes in pockets putting a lit pipe there.

Anybody notice what it was that caught fire on the pipe?
That's right. A tassle.

Eww...Two and A Half Men.

Mad Men is good though, and has at least one REAL pipe smoker.
Oh, and have any of you ever heard of a program called "Dead Like Me?" It's a ridiculous premise, very cynical, and quite funny; and one of the lead characters smokes a pipe. It's from 2003 or so.

Cheers,

Collin

You don't like Two and a Half Men Collin? I think it's a riot, and personally I think I am 50% Charlie and 50% Alan.
Dead Like Me sounds familiar, but I haven't seen it. When is it on?

You will have to get "dead like me" from netflix now, I think. I watched it a while back, and it wasn't,an HBO or Showtime special,I don't think, but don't rightly recall.

Yet one more indication that the pipe is making a comeback in this country.

I'm not a TV fan at all, but when I walk thru the room as my wife watches it, it looks like he wears the same bowling shirt in every episode. And I don't like that large unattractive lady with the bad attitude. I just got totally burned out on situation comedies with their laugh tracks going off after every comment, years ago, wife just calls me a "cantankerous old fart"

No kidding?........sure seems like they laugh at every other comment. I often listen from another room and my wife may laugh audibly 2 or 3 times during the entire show. I'll start paying more attention to it, as she loves the show too.

Mad Men and Two and Half Men are two of my four favorite shows.
The other two sadly have yet to feature a pipe; Boardwalk Empire and the new Hawaii Five-0.
*edit* Well,...someone may have been hit on the back of the head with a pipe in Boardwalk Empire.
