Pipe Smokers of the Past: Jefferson Davis

Earlier this month, we introduced our new Pipe Club feature column by Bob Tate. Now we are pleased to announce another new column titled, "Pipe Smokers of the Past" by Fred Brown.
Fred is a Retired Senior writer for the Knoxville News Sentinel and was a working journalist for 46 years before retiring in 2008.

I'm sure it would be eye opening to some of these do gooders of today who feel that they have all the answers as to what others should or shouldn't do if they were forced to realize how much this modern life that they enjoy so much has been improved by those who smoke pipes.

Jefferson Davis monument,is about a 330 min drive from my house.I went up in it as a child.Cool to know he was also a piper.
