From what I can determine, this pipe dates to the 50s - 60s. From the National Briar Pipe Co.; Jersey City, NJ. Have yet to smoke it - but seems like a nice little pipe.

Thanks guys - much appreciated. :)
Was a reasonably easy clean up. The stem is a nice quality vulcanite too, but did take a quite a lot of sanding with micromesh (after a good soaking)

Thank a lot everyone - as always, I appreciate the nice comments!
National also made the historically significant "Doodler," by the late Tracy Mincer, at some point as well.
Roth - you are a veritable fount of pipe knowledge - thanks for the info.

A great looking pipe, and a fantastic restoration job! I'm ready to be able to restore like that.

Thanks a lot guys - much appreciated. I just smoked it last night and it's excellent - nice wide draft for an older pipe.

six, that came out freaking awesome. I am always amazed at how you can take a dirty old pipe and make it look new. I am glad to hear you enjoy how it smokes. In your experience do most of the older American pipes have smaller shank dimensions? I am assuming they are not as open as your Italian pipes?
