Our featured guest on tonight's Pipes Magazine Radio Show is with Dan Butler of D. Butler Pipes. Dan is a part time pipe maker producing beautiful artisan pipes. He found his way to pipes after university didn’t work out, then working the night shift in a mental hospital put so much stress on him that he need to find relief. First, it was relaxing with a cigar, but when he found his way to pipes, he became much more intrigued. He started off slow as he was paying off student debt, but when that was cleared, he dove in. At the top of the show in the Pipe Parts segment, Brian will have his first installment in searching for replacement tobaccos for some of the Mac Baren and Sutliff discontinued items. He will have a review of Cornell & Diehl’s Virginia Gentleman, and tell you why it is a good replacement for Mac Baren’s Virginia No. 1.

The show airs every Tuesday at 8:00pm eastern US time, and can be found at PipesMagazine.com and all podcast apps.

I keep liking Dan, his pipes, and his wife's pipe bags/socks more and more. Can't believe the level of quality and craftsmanship he cranks out after just a few months at this, but when it is your passion, get out of the way. Great write-up on Peterson Pipe Notes, too. Go Huskers!

A big happy 28th birthday to your daughter!

Really enjoyed the comparison of a replacement blend for Virginia Number 1. Interested to see what other replacements you have for other blends. Mac Baren had a lot of popular blends like HH Pure Virginia, HH Old Dark Fired, HH Burley and some tried and true long time staples like Club Blend, Dark Twist, Navy Blend, and Vanilla Cream.

Dan seems to be on the right path and full of enthusiasm. Interested to see where his carving is in a year or two.
