Our featured interview on tonight's Pipes Magazine Radio Show is with pipe maker Chris Herriot. Chris lives in France, and grew up in the U.K. He started making pipes during the pandemic and posting about his progress. Chris Kelly of Eldritch Pipes noticed and offered to teach him. Later, Chris traveled to St. Claude, France where pipe maker Bruno Nuttens offered him additional training. At the top of the show we will continue with our ongoing tour of Brian’s pipe collection with four pipes from Ernie Markle.

The show airs every Tuesday at 8:00pm eastern US time, and can be found at PipesMagazine.com and all podcast apps.

Love your Ernie Markoe collection. He does great work.

“I have a head for radio”, had me laughing out loud. Cool to hear Chris has worked with Bruno. Bruno’s doing incredible work. Hope to be able to buy one of his Bing Crosby pipes at the Vegas show. With a mentor like Bruno I’m sure Chris’ work is coming along really nice.

As for tourists I’ll say this, my favorite line from The Hangover was when the doctor said, “It’s at the corner of get a map and f**k off!”. It sucks when you’re just trying to get somewhere for lunch and you have to weave your way through people staring up at the casinos like they’ve never seen a building before in their life.

I've been following Chris's work on Instagram and I love what he's doing. It's amazing to hear that he decided to move to Bruno's town just to work with him regularly (and it's also amazing how much time Bruno gives him). And getting to work with Tom Eltang in the future, wow! It'd be hard to imagine him not succeeding with that kind of tutelage.

Chris Herriot was one hell of a guest. I'll admit I was mildly disappointed when the topic shifted to the pipe realm, as I believe I could've listened to the two of you droning on about English pubs and the French countryside for at least another 20 minutes before tiring of the subject. You'll have to interview him again sometime!
