The pipe carver and repairman, Jerry Perry, from Colfax, N.C., near Greensboro, has been exhibiting at the
NC State Fair for many years at the Village of Yesteryear crafts pavilion. If I remember, he has been elected
the chair of the exhibitors. He does a beautiful display of his pipes for all the days of the Fair, this year
Oct. 17 to 27. His other venue is the Triangle Area Pipe Show at the Fairgrounds in April. If you make it to
the Fair (or to the pipe show) be sure to stop around and take a look, and maybe pick up one of his fine
crafted pipes. He works in briar, Mountain Laurel, and some other woods. His designs are elegantly simple,
with some jazzy color added in a few of his pipes in recent years. But there is plenty to choose from, for
any taste. I'm in no way connected, except as a customer over the past 11 years; I have two of his Mountain
Laurel pipes and two briars.
