My local pharmacy is a small-town, family owned establishment known simply as "Mike's." It's the type of place where they will let you run a tab and have been known to open up in the middle of the night so a mom can get her sick baby some medicine.
Mike has a lot of antique items that he has collected or have been donated to him. He keeps them in display cabinets, mostly pharmaceutical and doctor's supplies, even an old, real, used, leather football helmet that I have been on him for years to sell me. It really looks like more of an antique shop than a pharmacy.
But, he also has a few pipes. One of which immediately caught my eye because of its unique shape...

Pardon the poor picture quality (it was taken with my phone). But, I was wondering if anyone knew anything about this style of pipe. Not so much because I want one, but rather it just has that unique shape to it. I have not been a pipe smoker for very long, but in my research I have never seen a pipe shaped like that.
Thanks in advance...

Hi volsmcfalls, and welcome to the forums. I think it's a Kaywoodie "chin rester";

and member CollinDow owns the only other example I've ever seen.

It does look like a Kaywoodie Chin Rester.They pop up on Ebay every now and then. Will he take it out of the case and let you look at it?

You know, it's similar, but I don't think it is a Chinrester. Certainly not an original, at least, because I have never seen Kaywoodie use a band, for one, and the curvature on the stem is off. It may be a Yello-Bole, which have a more generous curve, as that does, a replacement stem, or even just some random pipe with a custom stem!

I'm going to guess it's most likely a repaired Yello-Bole. That just seems most likely to me.
Edit: Oh yeah, welcome to the forum! Got so caught up in thinkin' about the pipe I forgot common courtesy!
