I have a question about my pipe design. The bowl of my pipe is not the same diameter all the way down. It begins to narrow about half way down and continues to do so toward the bottom of the bowl. Is this a flaw or common?

Although most briars have straight sides, some carvers prefer a tapered chamber. Usually the taper is even from top to bottom. What brand is it?

Bowls differ somewhat, some almost cylindrical, other more conical. In fact, a recent post on Forums

offered a link to a video about reaming pipes, and recommended the senior reamer for cylindrical and

the Buckner reamer for more conical chambers, so this difference is a given in pipe bowl drilling. I have

both type bowls, and both seem completely adequate.
