I was at my local B&M today and the topic of pipe making came up. I have never tried my luck at it but I have given much thought to the idea. My father has taught me a few things about wood work, but never about pipe carving. I have learned that I find it very interesting and catch myself always watching shows on tv about wood work, whenever I find them.
Anyway, my friend Mike was telling me about how the pipe maker Tim West has a 8 hour class he offers in Columbus Ohio, which is convenient as I am only about 45 minutes away. Then I get on the internet and sure enough he wasn't joking. I start reading about how a person should have a little experience before going to places that offer pipe carving classes to get the full benefit of the class. Is this true, and are you expected to have the tools required to finish a pipe before showing up to the class?
Any thoughts or suggestions would be great!
Thanks Kevin for posting this video because I have been meaning to ask these questions for a while now.
