I've watched 3 of fish's pipes go for prices I didn't expect. (Not majorly different but percentage wise they were big differences.)
The first 2 were a poker from Jerry Zenn and a pick axe from Todd Johnson. I noticed one of the bidders on the pipes is r***r, whomever that is, and has close to 3700 bids. This particular bidder I believe to be from outside the US as his (or her) bids seem to be where the odd amounts start. Like to weird penny amounts.
Now for the Schadenfreude. This is also the bidder who I lost a bid to for a particularly nice pipe and I can't help but be a little giddy that he lost both of these. So congratulations and good job to the person who won the Todd Johnson pipe. The Jerry Zenn is now sitting in my collection. nana I'll admit that I did set my max bid about $30 more than I had originally planned (fish had another Zenn that really was the one I like more) and still only won by $1.88. Honestly, if the bidder hadn't been who it was I probably wouldn't have been so aggressive.
I may yet keep an eye out for the other Zenn pipe but I think it will go for more based on it's design. The poker, BTW, is much nicer than I expected and Mr. Zenn is one heckuva carver so I'm very glad to have won this pipe. His attention to detail is nothing short of phenomenal.
The third pipe? Here is where I make up for my Schadenfruede. I saw the the Jesse Jones pipe from fish sitting at a respectable bid but still a great deal but thought, naw let someone else have it.
