I live in a small town (30,000 population). Aside from Walmart, CVS, and Walgreens, we have two "tobacco shops," which are nothing more than head shops....and I refuse to enter them. Obviously, I am reduced to shopping online for my pipe supplies.
I have checked out several pipe/tobacco online stores, but have not chosen one yet. Are there some that rise above the rest? What are your favorite places to pick up a neat pipe or a great blend of tobacco?

I use, without problem, 4noggins (a site sponsor) and Iwan Ries for tobacco and other sundries. I have a personal aversion to buying pipes that I have not handled and eyeballed so I do not purchase pipes over the net. Both Ries and 4noggins ship in a timely manner and 4noggins ships free for orders totaling in excess of $99.00.

Welcome to the forums!
I like 4noggins for their service and house blends,

but then again I have to shop PipesAndCigars for Russ Ouellette's blends,

and SmokingPipes.com for their comprehensive inventory and great service.
In the left hand column of this page you will see a list of site sponsors.

If you don't support them, Kevin will revoke your pipe smoker's card.

Thanks for the tip! I was so busy trying to navigate the site, I neglected to look in the margin area. :puffy:

The site sponsors are very good. I've only done business with a few: 4Noggins (and the 4noggins house blends are great), Cup O' Joes, and Smoking Pipes. All have been top notch.

As stated, any of the Site Sponsors are reputable for tobacco.
For pipes check out Pipestud and Marty Pulver.

I've ordered over $10,000's worth of tobacco (and 2 or 3 pipes) from SmokingPipes.com over the last eight years. They would get my highest recommendation.
I've also ordered tobacco online from Iwan Ries, whom I also like to visit in person when I'm in Chicago.
The only other one I've tried here is Cupojoes.com, to pick up a blend that no one else seemed to carry. (It had the unwieldy name of Blackbeard's Queen Anne's Revenge, but it turned out to be a re-packaging of Samuel Gawith's Navy Flake, so I'm back to SmokingPipes.com anyway! :) ) I can't recommend their coffee -- every bean order I've placed has arrived stale -- but their tobacco selection/service has been fine.
I'm the kind of person who likes to have one main go-to vendor for things. When it comes to all things pipe-smoking, that vendor for me is SmokingPipes.com.

Thanks for the comments and advice, and thanks for the compliment on my baby, "shorty."

My own list is similar: smokingpipes.com, cupojoes.com, iwanries.com, tobaccopipes.com, and walker briar works

for corn cob pipe forever stems. All of the sponsors of this site have earned members' trust, and 4noggins and

pipes and cigars reps are Forums members. All these sites don't make many mistakes and will make it right when

they do. They are all owned and staffed by pipe people, not just retailers maintaining cash flow. They have

enlightened self-interest in keeping customers.

Welcome to the forums! I recommend any of the site sponsors. There may be a hiccup as there always are every now and then, but they can be counted on to do the right thing.

I have tried them all. I also have comparison shopped online for tobacco tins and always smokingpipes.com is the least expensive. Try it yourself! Finally, smokingpipes.com has the largest selection of tobacco, new pipes and estate pipes. Iwan Reis in Chicago is expensive, however, they also have a lot of tobacco and they can usually sell limited tinned tobacco when all other online pipes web sites are out.

I'm a big fan of Pipesandcigars.com largely for Russ's blends, but also because I've always had great service. Also ordered quite a bit from smokingpipes.com.
I would also recommend checking out Pipeworks & Wilke, both for outstanding hand crafted blends and for an interesting array of estate pipes. While primarily a VaPer smoker, I couldn't be without Wilke No. 5
I've had to avoid Marty Pulver's outstanding estate pipe site because I've blown my pipe budget........
