A very generous forum member sent me what looks to be at least 3 oz of the stuff. Thank you sooooo much I've been trying to get my hands on some for about a year with a few false starts. I only wish my palate was back to normal (post covid) but I must say from what I can taste thus far this is what I've been looking for in a hyper-robust smoke much harsher than 5 brothers and I mean that in a good way. The mouthfeel and throat burn and retro burn are more than I was expecting and the nic hit was simply exquisite. This will be that late night too many Scotches and to hell with the morning-after smoke. I highly recommend this to fans of Five brothers and HH Rustica...

D&R discontinued when they sold out right??
Picayune was one of several blends that were discontinued when Mark sold the business. I never much cared for Picayune, but now, the loss of the Rimbroché blends is a hard one to bear. Good thing I'm absent minded and bought several lbs more of them than I realized I had.

There’s only a handful of D&R blends left. There’s been a few reductions since the sale at different times (they dropped the Gold varieties of some blends last year like Rowland, though the Rowland Gold after the sale was already different from the Rowland Gold pre-sale so I consider as having already been dead).

Are you 100% positive Rimboche is discontinued? All 3 of them?

My Secret Santa gifted me a tin of Picayune as part of the stash, and I started in small bowls only but it has grown on me and I've become quite accustomed to it. Had a rather average sized bowl of it last night... I'm off the training wheels now.

I was really sad to see the once huge selections of titles which D&R offered reduced to just a handful.

Relative to other tinned-tabaks they were inexpensive, it was no big deal to order them all - at once or over time.

In terms of the non-aro offerings, D&R's wide range of subtle variations allowed someone to eventually find the perfect strength which appealed to them; or, select the perfect strength smoke for the mood of the moment from what-have-you on the shelf.

A real loss to us pipe smokers; but thankfully, we have what's left still available. - Sherm Natman

I totally agree. I miss so many of their blends, luckily I was able to grab a smattering of their selection before they were cut. 3 Sails in the tin was superior too me.

I always sang the praises of D&R. I tried Picayune once when I was rolling cigs and it knocked me on my ass. Never tried it in a pipe.

The loss of the Rimboche blends is just too bad. SJ was a VaPer that, had it come in a fancy round tin with "Esoterica" on it, people would be paying $100 an ounce. That stuff jarred up for a year or so was just plain awesome.

Does anyone know what's going on with the Perique factory? With C&D now working with 31 Farms, combined with the sale of D&R, it makes me wonder where things stand there.
