It's drizzling outside so I thought I'd try some more indoor shots.
Kirk Bosi Rusticated Pine Cone. I wasn't a fan of Kirk's "crackle" finish at first, but it's grown on me. I wish Kirk was still carving pipes because his engineering is first rate.

Jaden Hew Len Blasted Scoop. This Hawaiian carver should be a lot better known than he is.

Crazy nice pipes.
That Bulldog is my favorite out of them all.
It's a borderline Spaceship.

Keep shooting. You have an enviable collection my friend. Love that blasted bulldog and that Dublin.

My digital camera was reccomended by our very on Paul. I'm sure it can take better pictures than I'm capable of.
But I told paul that the flash this thing has is insane. So he told be that many time photographers will use pretty crazy things to diffuse the flash like cotton balls, printer paper, pillow cases etc. Something white that will lessen the flash but still lets the light through enough to get the shot you want.
I've played around with it and it's very fun to try to get that perfect shot. But IMO love the deep contrast that direct sunlight can give.
But I'm just a noob boob with a camera.

I found instructions online to make a light difuser (sp?) out of an empty yogurt cup.
Aah, technology!

I'm not sure if Jaden even has a web site. I think if he stepped up his marketing a little he could be a rock star pipe maker. He's THAT good.

Thanks guys,
I'll take some overhead shots of the Pohlman Bulldog tomorrow. The bowl is HUGE. And the stem on the Old Nellie Dublin is actually much more conservative in normal light.

In the space of one year Joe Nelson has improved dramatically. The stuff he had at St Louis was almost like a whole new carver. I was highly impressed. By the way he's a cool guy and makes guitars as well.

The Old Nellie Dublin shown above is one of Joe's earlier pipes. I bought it from him at his first Chicago show 3 or 4 years ago. When I saw him last summer, he INSISTED I let him redrill it (even though I thought it was fine). He's just one of those guys who's always trying to up his game.
I also tried talking him into making a matching guitar and pipe set (with matching cases, too). How cool would that be?!
